restore the look of a full head of hair with an SMP Hair Tattoo

- Kareen Van Nen

Before and after scalp micropigmentation on a thinning crown and receding hairline at Integrated Ink in Vancouver

A Natural-Looking Answer to Hair Loss

Hair loss changes how you see yourself, in the mirror, in photos, and every time you style your hair. You don't have to keep working around it.

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a semi-permanent hair tattoo. Kareen places thousands of tiny pigment impressions in your scalp to recreate the look of hair follicles. The result reads as a closely shaved head of hair, or as added density wherever your hair is thinning.

It looks natural, lasts several years, and needs no surgery or downtime. There are no daily products to manage and no recovery period to plan around.

Our studio is in Port Moody, a short drive from Vancouver, Burnaby, and Coquitlam. Clients come to us from across the Lower Mainland.

Frequently Asked Questions About SMP

Does scalp micropigmentation look natural?

Yes, when it's done with care. Kareen matches the pigment to your skin tone and hair colour, and varies the size and spacing of each impression. Up close, it reads as hair follicles, not a tattoo.

Will it work if I don't shave my head?

Yes. SMP works on shaved heads and on longer hair. If you keep your hair longer, SMP adds the look of density underneath it, so less of your scalp shows through.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients need about three sessions. Kareen builds the result gradually, letting each layer heal before adding the next, so the final shade and density look natural.

How long does SMP last?

SMP is semi-permanent and lasts several years. The pigment softens gradually over time, and a short touch-up session brings the colour back when you want it crisper.

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. Kareen works at your pace, and you can take a break whenever you need one.
